Camp Lejeune is by far our largest employer. The base occupies 170 square miles (111,000 acres), with 14 miles of beach on the Atlantic Ocean. Included on the installation are more than 400 miles of roads, 50 miles of sidewalks, 50 miles of railroad, 6,800 buildings and facilities supporting 123,500 Marines, sailors, retirees, their families, and 4,700 civilian employees.

One of the area's greatest draws for investors comes from our strong rental market. Our occupancy rates rarely go below 98% year-round. Even during times of large troop deployments (particularly over the past year), we have not gone below a 95% occupancy. Most of the families tend to remain close to base as our military community provides a strong support network.
